Call To Action: Do Not Shut Down Somali Financial Firms
• Somali Action Alliance is troubled by the decision of Sunrise Community Banks to close the business accounts of Somali Money Transfer firms on Friday Dec 30th, ending wire transfers to Somalia. This will have a devastating impact on millions of Somalis, mostly women and children in the war-ravaged country and refugee camps.
• SAA convened last month a series of meetings to address this matter in an effort to prevent a shut down of Hawala bank accounts.
